Andrew Shreve, Regents Professor Emeritus

Following postdoctoral training as a National Institutes of Health postdoctoral fellow at the University of California, Berkeley, Professor Shreve moved to Los Alamos National Laboratory as a J. Robert Oppenheimer Fellow, and subsequently a technical staff member, where he worked for a total of 18 years. At Los Alamos, he served in various scientific and technical leadership positions, including within the Center for Integrated Nanotechnologies (CINT), a Department of Energy (DOE) Nanoscience Research Center. In 2012, Professor Shreve moved to the University of New Mexico as Director of UNM's Center for Biomedical Engineering (2012 to 2018) and as a Professor of Chemical and Biological Engineering (2012 to 2023). Currently, he is a Regents Professor Emeritus at UNM. His research interests include development of optical-based methods for biomedical and biosensing applications, development of new biological and nanostructured materials, development of spectroscopic and optical instrumentation, and quantitative modeling of photophysical and biological systems. Professor Shreve is also committed to teaching and mentoring, and has taught undergraduate courses in Chemical and Biological Engineering and graduate courses in Chemical Engineering, Nanoscience and Microsystems Engineering, and Biomedical Engineering.
